Soil Investigation:
The NCCLR performs tests for Soil Investigation in it's branches laboratories’ in Baghdad, Babylon & Basra.
Some of these tests are:
- Determination of natural moisture percentage
- Sieve Analysis
- Hydrometer Analysis
- Liquid Limit
- Plastic Limit
- Free swelling of soil
- Permeability of soil
- Tri-axial Pressure
- Lab. Fan Test
- Hydrometer in gypsy-soil
- Unconfined Compressive strength
- Static elasticity modulus

In addition, the NCCLR performs in-situ tests for soil investigation by taking samples from the soil, rocks & water table, for the purpose of:
- Determine of optimum foundation design for the building
- Determine the chemical properties of soils & rocks to find the protection way for foundations
- Measuring level of water table by making testing holes in different depths in clayey, sandy, gravels soils

Also, the NCCLR performs geophysical survey tests especially electrical seismic survey to find:

  • Weak area in the soil
  • Gabs under foundations by using special accurate equipments
  • Determine the electrical resistance for finding the level of the water table
